Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) was influenced by the 2006 Asian Games kabaddi tournament. Following that, PKL launched with 8 Kabaddi teams in 2014. In 2017, the league added 4 new teams one of which was the UP Yoddha. Unfortunately, Season 8 of PKL was canceled due to the COVID 19 pandemic. This year, Kabaddi is back with a blast, and UP Yoddha is more ready than ever.

UP Yoddha team joined Pro Kabaddi League in 2017. UP Yoddha captain and UP Yoddha coach respectively are Nitesh Kumar and Jasveer Singh. The UP Yodha team made it to the playoffs in 2017.
