Sri Lanka cricket is the governing body and the administrator of the Sri Lanka national cricket team. Popularly known as the Lions, the Sri Lanka cricket team is the permanent member of the International Cricket Council. The Sri Lanka National cricket team plays Test, ODIs, and T20 internationals alike. The squad first played cricket in 1926 as Ceylon and it was only in 1981 that they acquired the status of a Test playing nation. In fact, Sri Lanka cricket became the 8th test playing nation.
