Boult’s International career

In 2009 January, Boult was selected for the one-day series against Australia, but he played only the warm-up match against the Prime Minister's XI. Trent Boult’s bowling speed was 143.3 km/h (89.0 mph) in that match, which was the fastest for the New Zealand team in that tour.

Boult made his Test debut in the second Test against Australia in the 2011-12 season, where he took a wicket and helped his team win the first test in Australia after 1985. In 2013, Boult recorded his best bowling figures of 6/68 against England and took 19 wickets in five Tests. He took his career-best figures of 10/80 against West Indies in the second test, for which he also won the Man-of-the-Match award. He is the first New Zealander to pick a five-wicket haul in the day-night test against Australia in the 2015–16 Trans-Tasman series.

Trent Boult was selected for the New Zealand squad for the 2015 World Cup because of his ability to swing the ball both ways. He picked 22 wickets in 9 matches in the World Cup 2015, 5/27 being his best figures against Australian Team. Boult bagged his fifth five-wicket haul in the fourth ODI of the 2018-19 India tour and joined Richard Hadlee to become the players to pick the most 5-wicket haul for New Zealand. Trent Boult’s IPL Career

Boult grabbed the attention of IPL franchises after his impressive performance in the 2015 CWC and was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 2015 IPL auction. Due to the presence of other exceptional bowlers in the SRH side, Boult got to play only seven matches and he ended up picking nine wickets in them. Boult played just one game in the next season and was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rupees five crores in the 2017 auction. However, he played for Delhi Capitals in 2018 and 2019, and picked 18 and 5 wickets, respectively for them. Trent Boult’s IPL Team for 2020 IPL is Mumbai Indians, who bought him for 3.2 crores, and he has managed to bag six wickets in four matches for them.

Trent Boult was born to Ian Boult and Wendy Boult in Rotorua, New Zealand. He grew up in Tauranga and Ohope and went to Otumoetai College for education. He has a younger brother Jono Boult who is a first-class cricket player for Northern Districts. Trent got married to his girlfriend Gert Smith in August 2017 and they have two children.

Trent Boult in international cricket

In the 2011 Hobart Test, Boult made his international debut against Australia, where he straightaway took four wickets. He broke into the New Zealand ODI and T20I team in the following years. Boult has picked 470 wickets from 184 international matches at an average of 26.34, and has picked up 267 wickets in Test cricket as well.

Joint-Highest Wicket-Taker of the 2015 World Cup

Mitchell Starc, along with Trent Boult, hogged the limelight with their searing deliveries, both picking 22 wickets in the 2015 World Cup. Scintillating spells by Boult made him a key player in New Zealand's success.

Boult’s Special Record in ODIs

In June 2019, he reached the mark of 150 ODI wickets in just 81 matches and became the second-fastest bowler to do so. However, after a few days, Mitchell Starc surpassed Boult's record by picking 150 ODI wickets in 77 matches. Nevertheless, Trent Boult so far remains in third place after Saqlain Mushtaq, who achieved this feat in 78 games.

Second-Fastest Bowler to Reach 250 Test Wickets

Boult became the third Kiwi bowler to pick 250 wickets in Test Cricket. He achieved this mark in 63 Tests, thereby becoming the second-fastest New Zealand bowler after Sir Richard Hadlee, who took 250 wickets in 53 Tests. In the same match, Tim Southee also reached 250 Test wickets, but he took 67 games to achieve it.

Only New Zealand Bowler to Bag A Hat-Trick in World Cup

Trent Boult is the only Kiwi bowler who has taken a World Cup hat-trick. He achieved this distinction in the 2019 World Cup clash against Australia by dismissing Mitchell Starc, Usman Khawaja and Jason Behrendorff. Boult is only the 11th bowler to pick a hat-trick in the history of the World Cup. It is the second ODI hat trick of the pace spearhead after he bagged one against Pakistan in 2018.
