The Master of IPL: SuryaKumar Yadav
An aggressive batsman and a part-time bowler, he made his debut by making an impressive 73 in the Ranji Season in the year 2010-11. Considered one of the most famous names in the pool of uncapped players in India, SuryaKumar Yadav had a great start to his career. His father spotted his interest and love for the game quite early and made him join a cricket camp in BARC Colony in Chembur. As his talent became evident to the trainer, he pushed Yadav to play all age group tournaments in Mumbai. Scoring a well compiled 73 on debut, he was the only player in the team to score a half-century in Mumbai’s first innings. The young and talented boy got recognition after that and became a regular member of the side.
SuryaKumar Yadav’s Profile
Impressed by his passion and technique, Mumbai Indians signed him up for the IPL in the year 2011 to play in the next season. SuryaKumar Yadav’s IPL career was a bit rough initially as the team had experienced and veteran players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma and Kieron Pollard, due to which he did not get enough opportunities to play. He switched from Mumbai Indians to Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2014 auction, where he got ample opportunities to play and the team did justice to his batting abilities by making him a permanent fixture in their playing eleven. SuryaKumar Yadav’s KKR stint proved to be successful in IPL 2015 as he played some memorable innings, including a 20-ball 46 with five sixes against Mumbai Indians, overshadowing Rohit Sharma’s classy 98. Maintaining an excellent strike rate and the zeal to win, he cemented his place in the team when he was appointed the Vice-Captain. In the 2018 IPL auction, the player went back to his home team - the Mumbai Indians. Despite being an uncapped player, Yadav was picked up for a whopping Rs 3.2 Crores.
He has been promoted up the order by Rohit Sharma in the last couple of years, who firmly believes in his Yadav’s abilities and has, in fact, stated on record that he is not far away from earning a cap for the Indian Men’s Cricket team. His contribution of 424 runs in the 2019 edition propelled Mumbai Indians to win their fourth IPL title.
