Sachin Tendulkar’s Family

This Maharashtrian boy was born to Ramesh and Rajni Tendulkar in Dadar Mumbai in 1973. Sachin Tendulkar’s birthday is on 24th April. His father was a novelist, and poet while his mother worked in an insurance company as a LIC agent even after Sachin became successful, till her retirement.

Sachin Tendulkar's wife is Anjali Tendulkar, whom he saw at the Mumbai International airport for the first time and fell in love with her at the tender age of 17 years. Sachin Tendulkar is a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler who occasionally bowled leg-breaks and off-breaks. Sachin started playing cricket from the age of 11 and was introduced to the game by his brother Ajit, who took him to Ramakant Achrekar. He was a cricket coach and a club cricketer of repute at Shivaji Park, Dadar and Sachin started training under him. His consistency and immaculate strokeplay got him selected to represent Bombay in the Ranji Trophy on 14th November 1987 at the age of 14. Tendulkar made his debut internationally on 15 November 1989 against Pakistan in Karachi.

Tendulkar's debut in domestic Cricket came on 11 December 1988, for Bombay against Gujarat, where he scored 100 runs and became the youngest Indian to score a century on debut in 1st class cricket. Tendulkar even scored his first double century, 204 not out for Mumbai when he played against the Australian team in 1998 at the Brabourne stadium. He scored  233 not-out against Tamil Nadu in the semi-final of Ranji Trophy in 2000.

International Career

The Master blaster made his debut in ODI on 18 December 1989 against Pakistan. He was probably at his peak through 1994-1999.

Sachin Tendulkar scored his first ODI century on 9 September 1994 against Australia at Colombo; however, it took him 78 ODIs to make his first century. But Tendulkar continued to rise after that and became the leading run-scorer in the  1996 World Cup, which consisted of two centuries. In a World Cup match at Sharjah, he played exceptionally well against Pakistan team and led India to victory, the team scoring more than 300 runs for the first time in ODI. He took his first five-wicket haul in an ODI at Kochi, where he gave 32 runs in 10 overs, playing a big part in India’s victory.

Tendulkar has been part of six World Cups from 1992 to 2011, but the 2011 World Cup became the magical year that fulfilled his dream of winning the World Cup for India. He was a part of the playing eleven, which defeated Sri Lanka team in the World Cup final. Sachin Tendulkar scored 482 runs at an average of 53.55 in the tournament.
