Paths Of Glory

Rashid Khan may just be one of the best cricketing youngsters of his era. At the age of 23, he has matured into an indispensable share of the Afghan cricket team. Still, he has also boasted of the elusive contracts of the cash-rich Indian T20 Premier League, a market that boasts a torturous indifference to sentimentality.

Growing up, Rashid Khan spent his childhood in a refugee camp in Peshawar, being born to a Pashtun family in the Afghan village of Nangarhar. After following Shahid Afridi, he immediately began to adore him and went on to develop a passion for cricket. He built on his character's fast-paced action and worked hard to develop multiple variations to succeed in this monstrous stroke-dominated sport.

Rashid Khan made his first-tier debut for Afghanistan against the British Lions in Abu Dhabi on 7th December 2016, winning 4 for 48 and 8 for 74 and scoring 25 without dropping out and 52.

Before his 18th birthday, Rashid Khan was allowed the coveted opportunity to  represent his country. Rashid made his ODI debut in 2015 against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo. The young Afghan legion was soon to dominate the sport, especially in the shortest version of the game. His numbers of  2-1-3-5 bowling in a  match against Ireland in the T20I game attracted a lot of attention, and Rashid Khan found himself in the thick of things for the Hyderabad franchise in India's T20 league.

Rashid's career plans rose, and he and Mohammed Nabi became two rising stars in Afghanistan. Rashid Khan and his 7 wicket figures in the ODI match against West Indies made him the first Associate Nations cricketer to achieve this score. In 2018, the ICC named him the  Associate Cricketer of the Year, as the council recognised there is no way to stop this Afghan's tidal wave.

Modern Times

Indian T20 Premier League

Turning right or turning left or sliding straight ahead, you are never sure what Rashid Khan will serve. A leg spinner, Rashid Khan, has plenty of variety in his bowling arsenal and has been the most sought-after bowler since making his league debut. Interestingly, many hitters have difficulty choosing their variation because Rashid Khan barely changes his hand speed when passing the ball. At a staggering price tag of INR 4 crores, Rashid received the highest bid for an Associate Nations player of all time and was eventually bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad in February 2017, at the same auction in which the world's number one spinner at that moment, Imran Tahir, then 38 years old, had limited opportunities, without any offer.

Rashid Khan soon became a vital piece of equipment within the Sunrisers' goodie bag, and his ability to play at every stage of the game made him almost irreplaceable in the country. As an expert All-rounder, Rashid Khan demonstrated his fielding and gripping skills and made headlines at the 2018 edition when he unleashed a stunning one-handed catch to send Colin de Grand back to the pavilion near the ropes at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
