Cricketer Mayank Agarwal is a right-handed opening batsman from Karnataka who plays for the Indian team internationally. This player got everyone's attention from the very early days of his play with his great strokes done in an elegant manner. Mayank started his international career with the Indian cricket team on December 26, 2018, against Australia.

Mayank came into the limelight with his performance in Cooch Behar Trophy in 2008-09 where he made 432 runs in five matches. Mayank Agarwal also played for the Karnataka Premier League in 2010 where he was declared as the man of the series for his terrific play.

In the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy, Mayank scored his maiden triple century in first-class cricket and made 304 runs not out, which was his 50th triple century in first-class cricket in India. Mayank Agarwal also made 1000 runs in the same year of play in first-class cricket. He made a total run of 1160 and became the leading run-scorer in the trophy.

When this batsman played for Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2017-18, in seven matches, Mayank scored 723 runs and was the leading scorer of the team. He scored a total of 2141 runs in the same domestic season. Then he got named in the 2018-19 Deodhar Trophy through India B's squad. In October 2019, Mayank Agarwal got named in India C's Squad for the 2019-20 Deodhar Trophy also.

International Career

Mayank got placed in India's Test team for a series against West Indies in September 2018 but didn't play it. Then he was again added to the team in December 2018 for a Test series against Australian team, after Prithvi Shaw was dropped out due to some injury. Mayank Agarwal made his Test debut on December 26, 2018, against Australia and scored 76 runs in the first innings at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

In other tests, he also played well, and in the fourth test match, he made 195 runs to finish the series. In October 2019 Mayank was selected to play test matches against South Africa where Mayank scored his maiden century in Test cricket. Mayank Agarwal played amazingly and converted it into his first double hundred in the test match before he was dismissed for 215 runs off 371 balls with 23 fours and six sixes. In this series, Mayank also became the second opener after Virender Sehwag to score back-to-back centuries against South Africa.

In November 2019, Mayank Agarwal’s batting style got appreciation as he hit his second double century in his 8th Test match against Bangladesh. He made his current highest score of 243 runs in 330 deliveries, hitting eight sixes. Also, Mayank broke the record of Donald Bradman to become the second-fastest batsman to score two double hundreds, achieving it in just 12 Test innings.

Mayank Agarwal’s fine opening got him placed in India's one-day international squad for the series against West Indies. He had replaced Shikhar Dhawan who was ruled out because of some injury. Mayank made his ODI debut for India against New Zealand on February 5 2020.

He was also replaced in place of Vijay Shankar in the 2019 ICC World Cricket Cup. Mayank was dropped out of the team for the rest of the matches, due to some injury.

Mayank Agarwal’s IPL Career

Mayank joined IPL in 2011 where he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for 2011 IPL and performed overwhelmingly well in all matches played. Later he played for Rising Pune Supergiants, Delhi Capitals, and then Kings XI Punjab in 2017 where Mayank was picked up at an auction price of INR 1 crore.

Mayank Agarwal has performed exceptionally well in all Indian Premier League matches for every team he has played for. Mayank has played in a total of 72 IPL innings so far where he has scored 1266 runs, including five half-centuries.

His best season of IPL was 2020 for Kings XI Punjab where Mayank scored 424 runs with two half-centuries and one centuries from 11 matches played.

Mayank Agarwal’s age is 29 years and he was born to Pranav Kumar Pandey and Suchitra Singh on February 16, 1991, in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The father of Mayank is a builder, and his mother is a homemaker. He has a brother Raj Kishan who is a former state-level cricketer. Mayank Agarwal’s wife is Aashita Sood, and they got hitched on June 4, 2018.

Mayank is a big fan of Sachin Tendulkar. He idolizes him and started playing cricket because of him. Mayank Agarwal's height is 5 feet 9 inches, and he weighs around 70 kgs. He attended the Bishop Cottons Boys School, Bangalore and then went to Jain University, Bangalore for graduation.

Mayank likes listening to music in his free time. Virendra Sehwag is one of his favourite cricketers.
