Manish Pandey was born on 10th September 1989 in Nainital, Uttarakhand, India. His cricket journey started when he was in the third standard. He completed his schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya ASC Centre and after that he joined the Karnataka State Cricket Association. In 2008, Manish was a member of the victorious Indian team in the Under-19 World Cup held in Malaysia. He is a right-handed batsman and right-arm off-break bowler. Besides this, he primarily represents Karnataka in domestic cricket and Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL as batsmen. Pandey's father was an army man, and if he had not excelled in IPL by hitting the first century, he was all set and prepared to join the Army. He got married in 2019. Manish Pandey’s Domestic Career
Manish Pandey's Domestic career started in 2008. He was also a part of the Indian team in the 2008 Under-19 World Cup held in Malaysia. Manish was a name that will forever and ever be remembered as the first Indian player to secure a century in the world's most profitable league, i.e., an unbeaten 114 runs off 73 balls to toss the Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB) into the knockouts of the 2009 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has played the role of a vital cog for the Karnataka domestic side. A vibrant stroke maker in the middle-order, Manish stood up through the ranks after starting with Mysore in a state-level tournament. He was later made to play for the Under-19 Indian team in 2008 under Virat Kohli . In particular, he wasn't that impressive in India's winning Under-19 campaign.
However, with his swift batting and his breathtaking fielding in domestic cricket, he proved that he was no one-match wonder. He had a successful Ranji season in 2009-2010 with 882 runs, ending up as the highest run including four hundred and five fifties at an average of 63. As showing his consistency and appetite for runs. Manish had an unforgettable, albeit heart-breaking end to the season when he fell agonizingly short of taking Karnataka to success over Mumbai in the finals of the Ranji Trophy. Manish's perfect 144 runs in the 4th innings though were immersed in grit and character and were engraved in the memory of the selectors even though Karnataka fell short by six runs to lose a final for the ages.
So, with an ability to pull out unorthodox strokes under pressure, and with Kohli playing the sheet-anchor and taking up the pressure, the liability lies on Pandya and Pandey to provide the momentum to bring cricket's most coveted trophy back to India.
Manish Pandey’s International Career
14th July 2015, the day when Manish Pandey made his first One Day International(ODI) debut for India against Zimbabwe, he had a great debut that included a 144 run partnership with Kedar Jadhav . Manish joined Kedar at the crease when India was fighting at 82 runs for the loss of four wickets and made his maiden half-century before being out after making 71 runs.
On 17th July 2015, he made his first Twenty20 International debut for India on the same tour. And in January 2016, he was selected in the One Day International(ODI) team for the Australia tour. In the final game, Sydney Cricket Ground, he played a heart-winning match inning of 104 runs, helping India to win the match as it was his only match of the series. Then he was even selected as a replacement of Yuvraj Singh in 2016 World T20 for team India. He was then named in the 15-man squad for the Champions Trophy in June 2017 despite getting injured during the IPL and missed the ICC event for India.
