Ishant Sharma
Ishant Sharma, a right-arm fast-medium pace bowler is one of the gems of the Indian cricket team. When he is in his peak form, no batsman can stay in front of his bowling. This wonderful player bowls at a speed of about 140 km/h with a lovely high arm action troubling the batsman. Ishant Sharma made his test debut in the year 2007 against Bangladesh and made his ODI debut the same year only in a match against South Africa.

With a lean and tall build, measuring 193cm, Ishant is yet another Delhi boy who started playing cricket seriously from the age of 14 and soon made his way in the Delhi Ranji team at the age of 18. He became a successful bowler in the team and played three youth tests and six youth ODIs for India. With his consistent performance, he came into the focus of selectors to join the Indian Squad for the tour in 2007 against Bangladesh for test matches. However, talking about his big match which made him a household name was his bowling against the Pakistan team in which he became a threat to the Pakistani players.
With his fast bowling, he took five wickets and gave just 140 runs at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in the 2007 test match. Moreover, this match turned out to be his biggest breakthrough, helping this 'Lambu' guy book a permanent spot in the Indian team.
Ishant Sharma also made a mark when he played for Australia in 2008 and made it hard for Aussies to bat in front of him with his fast bowling action.
The Australian captain Ricky Ponting was his favorite bunny because he dismissed this amazing batsman six times in 76 matches. Ishant Sharma has also made a record of bowling the fastest ball ever by any Indian bowler against Australia at Adelaide Oval on February 17, 2008. He bowled at a speed of 152.6 km/h and beat the delivery of Ashish Nehra which was 149.7 km/h. He was declared as the man of the series for taking 16 wickets. India won the test series 2-0, which was a clean sweep, and made everybody believe that finally, the Indian team has a good fast bowler after the likes of Zaheer Khan and Irrfan Pathan.
ODI Career
Ishant Sharma’s ODI stats aren’t very impressive; he made his one-day international debut against South Africa in Belfast on June 29, 2007. Overall, he has played 80 ODIs, taken 115 wickets with an average of 30.97, and has an economy rate of 5.7 with his best bowling figures being 4-34 in an ODI match. He also took 10 wickets in the 2013 Champions Trophy in England, which is one of his memorable performances.
T20 Career
He didn't have a great career in this shortest format of cricket. Ishant has just played 14 matches by taking eight wickets with an average of 50 and an economy rate of 8.63.
Ishant Sharma IPL Career
Because of a great performance in Australia, he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in the auction in the year 2008 for a whopping amount of $950,000, the highest amount paid for a bowler. After playing for them for three years, he was bought by Deccan Chargers in IPL 2011 auction. In that season, in 12 matches, he took 11 wickets, with an average of 28.54. In a match played against Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011 IPL, Ishant made history with his best bowling performance by taking five wickets and giving away just 12 runs and making way for a win. With his amazing bowling, he totally changed the course of the game and was given the man of the match award.
In 2012 Ishant Sharma cricketer went for an ankle surgery because of which he had to leave that season of Indian Premier League and was out of action for at least 6 months and more.
Then after his comeback, he joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the year 2013. He was a part of this squad for about three years until 2015, where he performed well by taking 19 wickets in 24 matches, altogether giving away 726 runs with an average economy rate of 8.09. Then again in the year 2016, he was bought by Rising Pune Supergiants in squad no. 1 where he took three wickets and gave away 140 runs but he could not get a permanent spot in this team.
Then, Kings XI Punjab got him in their team; however, this fast-paced bowler didn't have a good time with the ball and was not able to turn this opportunity well. In the year 2018, Ishant Sharma was signed by Delhi Capitals for the salary of INR 1.1 crore and continued in the same team in 2019. Currently, he is playing for Delhi Capitals only. The auction price of Ishant Sharma for this year's IPL was INR 1.10 crore, and the highest bid for him was around INR 3.8 crore. He plays for Delhi Capitals with jersey no. 1, under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. Still, unfortunately, Ishant Sharma was not a part of this match due to a back spasm that occurred during the nets practice in Dubai. However, he will surely be joining his team after he is fine and will perform well.
