Chahar Personal Details
Deepak Lokendrasingh Chahar, also referred to as Deepak Chahar, was born on 7th August 1992 in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. His father, Lokendra Singh Chahar, worked in the Air Force, and his mother Florence Rabada is a lawyer. His cousin Rahul Chahar is a cricketer too.
Deepak Chahar’s age is 28 years. His father has been the biggest inspiration for him. When he was in Agra, his father always worked on his bowling and fitness. He also shares a very incredible bond with his brother, Rahul Chahar who plays the IPL from the Mumbai Indians side. Deepak also guided his brother to conquer his place in the game. They both are each other’s competitors, as they both belong to different IPL teams. Deepak Chahar’s CSK team and Rahul Chahar’s MI team have been arch-rivals.
Deepak Chahar Domestic Debut
Deepak Chahar’s cricket life started at the age of 16, and he faced a lot of rejections at that time. In 2008, when Greg Chappell was the director of the Rajasthan Cricket Academy, D. Chahar came into recognition by taking eight wickets in his debut innings, limiting Hyderabad to 21, the lowest ever total in the Indian domestic cricket. Then in 2016, he trained under international cricket coaches Ian Pont and Catherine Dalton in Jaipur. Taking regular classes from the experienced, Deepak improved his confidence and controls, which led him to become a great power-play specialist. During that period, Deepak Chahar bagged 30 wickets in only six matches and was on fire. After that, in 2017-18, he also bowled exceptionally well and was awarded the Syed Mushtaq Trophy, scalping 19 wickets in only nine matches. Finally, in January 2018, he began with his Indian Premier League journey. Chennai Super Kings got him in the auction of the 2018 IPL and, by October 2018, he was honored to be named in India B’s squad for the 2018-19 Deodhar Trophy.
Chahar’s International Debut
Coming to the international career of Deepak Chahar, in May 2018, his name was under India’s Twenty20 International (T20I) team against England. On 8th July 2018, he made his T20I debut for India. In his debut match, by his intense gameplay, he dismissed Jason Roy and became the second-fastest bowler after Siddarth Kaul to make his debut in the UK tour. On 25th September 2018, he also made his One Day International debut for India against Afghanistan during the 2018 Asia Cup. On 21st July 2019, he was selected in the T20 Squad for India against West Indies, which was held on 3rd August 2019. In the final match against West Indies team, Deepak Chahar played a significant role and won the Player of the Match award with the figure of 3/4.
After watching his excellent performance, he was subsequently selected for the three-matches in the T20I series against Bangladesh. Just like his previous matches, he took the best bowling figure in T20I, with six wickets for seven runs from 3.2 overs. He was the first bowler from India who took a hat-trick and a first five-wicket haul in T20Is. After showing his mesmerizing talent, he achieved the Player of the Match trophy for the final match and was also awarded the Player of the Series award.

Deepak Chahar’s IPL Career
There are always ups and downs in everyone’s career. The 2016 and 2017 Indian Premier League was not that good for cricketer Deepak Chahar . He was performing very well in the domestic tournament, but it took a while for IPL major authorities to notice him. In 2018, he was picked by Chennai Super Kings. But when CSK was banned from IPL, he was temporarily picked by Rising Pune Supergiants for two seasons. When CSK got back on the field, Chahar again donned the yellow jersey and hasn’t looked back since then.
Deepak Chahar’s bowling style has been phenomenal. He took a lot of wickets, and he became the best fast bowler, a weapon that MS Dhoni uses in the opening powerplay overs against the competitors. Because of his abilities to pick up wickets early in the innings, he made himself the captain’s favorite pacer to open the innings.

- His sister, Malti Chahar, has always supported Chahar’s CSK career.
- He practiced with a martial art instructor and improved his flexibility.
- He also succeeded in increasing his bowling pace to the level of 135-140 kph.
